CDR: Kirin

♦ Species: Salamander (legendary fire elemental)

♦ Job: Fire Breather

♦ Personality: Kirin is rather laid back and quite lazy outside of performances, but when he's in the spotlight he really gets to work. He loves getting attention from the crowd and basks in their applause. He's a bit of a womanizer as well, who would not hesitate to come to the aid of anyone he finds to be cute. For a cute face, he would shed his lazy tendencies in favor of winning their affection and go out of his way to make them happy.

Kirin is usually friendly to strangers unless provoked, in which case it takes quite a bit to bother him to the point of anger. When angered he tends to go on a bit of a rampage and burn things by accident, which is why he tries his best to remain composed.

♦ History: Kirin is unsure exactly who his real parents are, or if he even had parents to begin with. All he remembers of his first moments of life was stumbling out of a fire into a dense jungle. Six years later an archaeologist arrived to the jungle in order to study the mysterious Mayan temples, only to discover a small, somewhat reptilian boy in the ruins. The locals had already warned the man of a dangerous creature lurking in the temple, believing it to be a guardian spirit of sorts, but he dismissed such superstitions.

The man introduced himself as Dr. Keen Clark, and communicated to the boy that he meant no harm. Fascinated that the man was not afraid of him like all the others, he came out of hiding to meet the archaeologist. Dr. Keen decided to take the boy with him, and adopt him as his own son. He decided to name the boy Kirin, after a picture in a book from Dr. Keen's library that the boy fancied. For years he kept the boy a secret from everyone, because he knew if anyone found out about Kirin then he would absolutely be taken away and most likely killed. He took it upon himself to educate Kirin, to teach him English and the ways of the world through books. Occasionally Dr. Keen would take Kirin along on expeditions, as his unique abilities proved useful in dangerous areas, though Kirin always disliked hiding on the boats that carried them to their destination.

One day however, a couple of men had paid the archaeologist a visit with grim news. They were threatening to stop all his funding over accusations of him stealing rare artifacts from expeditions to sell on the black market. Enraged as the men began to tear down Dr. Keen's house in search of proof, Kirin revealed himself and gave the men painful, fiery deaths for their intrusion. Dr. Keen, though a bit shaken over everything was grateful for Kirin trying to protect him, but after such an incident it would be impossible for him to live there anymore without being discovered by authorities sooner or later. He told Kirin to escape, far away and to never come back.

Tearfully, Kirin parted with the only family he's ever known, unsure of the archaeologist's fate but he never looked back. After many days of avoiding civilization he stumbled upon the circus. It almost seemed like an illusion, though he was immediately drawn to it. Realizing what kind of circus this was, he decided to make it his new home and join it. He still thinks of his father Dr. Keen though, hoping one day he would be able to see the man again smiling happily in the audience.

♦ Misc/Other Information:
- His tail weighs 70lbs on its own, making up for much of his weight.
- He is impervious to fire, though it is possible for him to overheat himself internally after excessive exposure.
- His horns, tattoos, and tail are hot enough to the point where they glow, though this usually results in him burning things and others near him unintentionally.
- Being dowsed in water extinguishes the heated areas on his body for a short while, until he dries off.
- He can breathe fire as easily as he can draw breath, but the amount quickly diminishes as he runs out of breath.
- His clothes often get singed by his tail when he performs, though he usually doesn't bother to change unless he is nagged to.
- Has an Irish accent from learning how to speak from his adoptive father.
